UCLA . . . These Bruins excel in the classroom and on the basketball court!
UCLA is one of the world’s most famous and recognized universities. In fact, more students apply to UCLA each fall than to any other university in America! More than 55,000 high school seniors applied last year but less than one in four of those applicants received an acceptance letter.
This Los Angeles powerhouse claims an extensive national and international student body but the claim is more technically accurate than anything else. It is true that UCLA boasts it has students from all 50 states and more than 100 different countries but more than ninety percent of the students are from California!
The UCLA basketball team is unmatched in collegiate sports history. The Bruins have won 11 NCAA national championships in basketball. This includes an almost unbelievable streak between 1967 and 1973 when they won 7 straight championships. Keep in mind, no other university has ever won more than two in a row and that hasn’t happened very often! During this time and playing under legendary Coach John Wooden, the UCLA Bruins also won 88 straight games. That’s a record some sports insiders believe will never be broken.
When you tour the UCLA campus for the very first time . . . don’t be surprised if it somehow seems familiar. Not only does UCLA feature one of the nation’s leading film schools, the campus is often used as a location in feature films!
