General Weather Description:
The Ann Arbor area has four distinct seasons. The ‘lake effect’ from Lake Michigan has a significant impact on the local weather. The lake effect brings frequent cloudy weather from fall through winter. The weather is relatively extreme with cold snowy winters and hot summers. Fall and spring are pleasant transition seasons. Precipitation is spread throughout the year. The weather events of most concern for the area are tornadoes.

OTHER IMPORANT INFORMATION
While 66% of the University of Michigan undergraduates are from Michigan . . . one third of the student body is not! Undergraduates come from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. It is unusual that one third of the class at such a prestigious state university is from someplace other than the school’s home state. This is very good news for out of state applicants.
