Great Colleges with Great Acceptance Rates!
Nearly every other day there’s a news story announcing why it’s practically impossible to be accepted at a top tier American college or university today. According to the media . . . unless you discovered a cure for cancer or received a personal recommendation from Mother Teresa before her death . . . you’re out of luck! It makes for a great headline but fortunately, it’s nonsense. These news reports aren’t just stretching the truth . . . they’re just plain wrong. The impression that maybe one in a hundred qualified applicants gets into Harvard or Yale is completely false. Yes, the odds of being a freshman in Cambridge or New Haven next September are long but they’re not one in a hundred . . . or anything close. The odds are more like one in ten and a couple of those ten applicants are definitely not qualified! But there’s something more interesting you need to understand. While the acceptance rate at schools like Harvard and Yale are a little bit lower today than they were in the past . . . they’re not very much different!
There’s more good news. The chance of a qualified high school senior being accepted at some outstanding colleges is much better. Is it easy to be accepted at a great college? No, of course not but it never was! Today, the competition at some of America’s great colleges is tough but definitely not overwhelming. Want proof? Let’s take a look at a few top tier and well known colleges. We’ve listed them in random order with the acceptance rate from their admissions office for last year . . .
