A World Class University with a Texas Tradition!
One of the nation’s outstanding colleges, Baylor has a unique claim to fame among its competitors. Baylor was technically chartered by a foreign country! Since Baylor was founded in 1845 just a few months before Texas became a state, it was officially chartered by the Republic of Texas. This also means that Baylor is the oldest continually operating college in Texas. And during that time, Baylor has learned how to do its job very well.
Baylor clearly understands the importance of becoming a national and world university but does so without sacrificing its Texan roots. While 4 out of 5 Baylor students are Texans, the campus also boasts students from all 50 states and nearly 70 different countries.
Baylor takes its commitment to Baptist and Christian faith traditions seriously so don’t expect to do all of your work in the classroom. It’s estimated that the students from Baylor contribute more than 150,000 hours of community service annually!
